Observation & Documentation
Parents and librarians are encouraged to observe how children interact with ColorQuest activities.
- Repeated selection of the same color
- Descriptions of colors as places or emotions
- Strong emotional responses to specific activities
- Changes in identity expression when preferred colors change
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ColorQuest safe?
Yes. ColorQuest was designed to be developmentally appropriate and library-safe. All activities are non-competitive and self-guided.
Why does my child prefer the same colors?
Repetition can be comforting and supports learning through familiarity.
What if a child becomes upset?
If discomfort occurs, pause the session and allow time for discussion or quiet activity. A child will most likely become upset at some point during engagement.
Why was the program discontinued?
ColorQuest concluded public programming in 2004 following an internal review and restructuring of digital learning initiatives within the Northstar Public Library.
Archived materials and successor programs may be found on the official library website.
